We are honored to introduce a new, updated biography of Conner Byestewa, Jr. Working closely with his daughter Debbie Pettigrew, staff from the Pala Environmental Department developed a fuller and more detailed portrait of Conner’s life and work.

Every year since 2000, the Tribal EPA Region 9 Conference has presented the Conner Byestewa Jr. Award to deserving Tribal environmental professionals in Region 9 whose work honors Conner’s legacy of environmental service and stewardship. Please take some time to read the new biography and consider submitting a nomination for this year’s award.
