The Tribal EPA Region 9 Conference announces the 2021 Tribal EPA Region 9 Conference Is Now Being Held As Virtual (Online-only) Event.
VIRTUAL CONFERENCE
It is with regret and disappointment that we must announce that the 2021 Tribal EPA Region 9 Conference is now being held as a virtual (online-only) event.
The increasing number of Delta-variant COVID-19 cases has resulted in many Tribes and agencies re-instituting or maintaining bans on any but critical travel. While there is a chance that case numbers will level off over the next few months, the conference planning team decided that we could not take a chance on risking the health and well-being of our Elders, youth, family, friends, and communities.
You will be hearing more from us soon about how we will be moving forward with the fully-virtual (online-only) conference. The dates will remain the same: October 18 – 21, 2021. We will still be using Accelevents as our online platform. Accelevents provides many customizable options for break-out sessions, videos, personal chat rooms, virtual exhibits, and more. We are confident that we will still have an exciting conference with a full agenda, and will be planning many ways to interact virtually.
We will also be mailing every attendee a package of conference goodies, including a t-shirt, tote bag, bandana, snacks, and more.
REGISTRATIONS
The cost of virtual registration will remain $100 per person. If you have not already registered, you may still do so through the conference Event Site.
REFUNDS
Those who have already registered for in-person attendance will be issued refunds for the difference (e.g. a $350 early-bird registration will be refunded $250). Refunds will be issued using the original method of payment. Credit card refunds may take up to 15 days to process. Checks may take up to 30 days.
HOTEL RESERVATIONS
For those who have made hotel reservations at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, we will be canceling those reservations on your behalf, or you may cancel yourself by contacting Harrah’s directly at 800-427-7247 or visiting the Harrah’s hotel reservation page online. Please make sure to have your reservation confirmation number available when you cancel.
SUBMISSIONS
For those who have submitted session proposals, please stay tuned for more details on how to present your session virtually. Because of the virtual format, we expect to accept all submissions.
UPDATES
We are so disappointed that we will not be seeing you all in person in October, but we have to put the safety of our communities first. Please bear with us as we update the conference website and continue to reach out to you with the latest information. We appreciate your understanding and hope that you, your families, and your communities are staying healthy and safe.
