The Tribal EPA & US EPA Region 9 Annual Conference planning team is pleased to introduce a new logo. This bold new design represents the gathering of Region 9 Tribes and our US EPA partners as a centering of our common purpose. Community and collaboration form the core, with stylized feathers radiating in a circle from the center of the deep yellow sun against a circle of rich, dark blue that represents water, sky, and the daily cycles of dawn and dusk.

The elements are highlighted in red. A description of the highlighted element is provided below each image.

Geometric Element

The geometric shape and color represent the sun, calendars, seasons of life and renewal (nature and technology), and the region.

The extensions acknowledge the four directions teachings & healing, navigation, and direction in recognizing the tribes in the region.

Full Circle Element

The primary shape of the circle and the color blue represents earth. The circle is important as it refers to life cycles, seasons, ceremonies, tools, regalia, and communication.

The color blue also represents water and sky and the daily transitions of time (day and night) and depth & altitude (water and atmosphere).

Arrow Elements

The arrows represent direction (compass and stars), time (clock and seasons), and the community (people, relatives, animals, creatures, and plants). The shapes also represent community, diversity, and gathering.

The arrows are directed inward (education and knowledge) towards the sun and teachings and healing of the four directions.

Feather Elements

The feathers acknowledge the strength of community (center) and collaboration, bringing teachings back to communities and future generations (outward).

Center Circle Element

This center circle reinforces the element of centering and gathering.

Typography

The typography is modern, bold, and has optimal visibility. It reinforces that knowledge and teachings are a strong force against the challenges Tribes are facing.
