Announcement: The New Tribal EPA Region 9 Conference Logo
The Tribal EPA Region 9 Conference announces the New Tribal EPA Region 9 Conference Logo.
The Tribal EPA Region 9 Conference planning team is pleased to introduce a new logo. This bold new design represents the gathering of Region 9 Tribes and our US EPA partners as a centering of our common purpose. Community and collaboration form the core, with stylized feathers radiating in a circle from the center of the deep yellow sun against a circle of rich, dark blue that represents water, sky, and the daily cycles of dawn and dusk.
The circle theme is continued throughout the logo, representing the earth, the circular nature of time, seasons of life, and renewal. The sun’s outer rays point to the four directions and encompass the wisdom and teachings of the Tribes. The sun is surrounded by arrows that reinforce the points of the compass and also represent time, seasons, and the stars of the night sky. The arrows point inward towards the sun, showing how education, knowledge, and healing from diverse communities are gathered at the center.
This logo symbolizes our intention to share knowledge, collaborate with partners, and bring important teachings back to our individual communities. It reflects our commitment to Tribal knowledge and teaching and the strength of our relationship with US EPA to protect Mother Earth. Together, we form a circle of cooperation that is celebrated every year at the Tribal EPA Region 9 Conference.
To learn more about the elements in the logo, descriptions are provided on the Media page.
